From the outside perspective you may hear about someone that after a particular enlightening experience on Entheogens results in a complete change in their direction, perspective, and outlook on life. A complete 180. Quitting their corporate job. Ending a relationship. Selling their house…etc. Too many who have not experienced an intentionally guided session with a trained practicioner, this seemingly immediate change must seem like a form of psychosis right? Rational, sane people don’t do that. How could a single experience so dramatically change someone’s perspective that the impacts last for months, years, and even lifetimes? For those who think it’s just not possible let me walk you through a different angle.
You are on a plane, at 30k feet, when all of a sudden the engine catches on fire. Panic sets in, oxygen masks come flying down from the ceiling, babies crying, flight attendants sprinting, the slow roar of concern builds…chaos ensues. The plane is in a nose dive and over the loud speaker you hear the pilot alert all to prepare for impact.
The plane crashes, many die, and through some miracle, you survive.
What happens from that point forward for you?
You’re changed, forever. Every moment as precious, there’s beauty wherever you look, you’re big hairy problems seem miniscule, you think critically about where you are in life. It’s all become very clear to you that this whole ride can be over in an instant.
You get home, realize you are at a dead end job, quit. You hug your wife, you begin treating her as the Queen she is. Your fundamental perspective which you’ve cultivated your entire life to this point is flipped on it’s head and changed forever.
Is that a crazy person? That one experience changed the course of their lives and how they perceive the world around them…forever.
Why is it so easy for us to understand why a traumatic incident could evoke such dramatic changes in someone’s life for the better while a mystically positive experience couldn’t do the same?
